Sing a Song

It is important for children to know their address and emergency telephone number. Here are two songs to help children learn this information.

I Know My Phone Number
Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

I know my phone number, yes, I do.
Listen now, I'll say it for you:
(YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER HERE; for example 123 555 2323)
I know my phone number, yes, I do.
Listen now, I'll say it for you.

It's Important That I Know my Address
Tune: If You’re Happy And You Know It

It's important that I know my address, yes it is!
It's important that I know my address, yes it is!
If you listen to me now,
I will say it, I know how.
It's important that I know my address, yes it is!
(Child says address at the end of the song.)

Try This

Talk about being safe and how important it is. Make sure everyone in the family knows their name, address, telephone number and what to do in case of emergency. Be sure important information is in a child’s backpack or tote bag. Sesame Street Communities provides a great activity to help with this.

Read a Book

Here are some book recommendations for today. Check out the picture book collection at your local library, where there are lots of books to choose from! Find nearby libraries.

  • Look for the Helpers (Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood) by Alexandra Cassel; illustrated by Jason Fruchter
  • Bully by Laura Vaccaro Seeger
